What is Clinical Myotherapy?
Clinical Myotherapy is a degree-qualified physical therapy profession involving treatment of acute and chronic pain conditions in a structured and diagnostic format.
A typical treatment session commences with a patient interview to form a detailed understanding of the issue and past relevant history of injury and events, followed by a targeted physical assessment to determine the cause of the problem. A specific treatment is given to address the issue which may incorporate hands on therapy, rehab exercises and education on the issue for better understanding.
Clinical Myotherapy treatment involves a range of hands-on techniques (i.e. joint mobilisations, myofascial dry needling, myofascial cupping, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), muscle energy techniques (MET), soft tissue massage), rehabilitative exercises, pain education, and pain management strategies.
